HAL 1883 (your choice)
Entry-Level Linear Hall-Effect Sensors
Overview
HAL 18xy is a universal, valueoptimized Halleffect sensor family offering three output variants: ratiometric linear analog, pulsewidth modulation (PWM) and SENT. The sensors are intended for magneticfield measurements and detection of mechanical movement (for example smallangle or distance measurements) and are robust enough for harsh electrical and mechanical environments.
Operation & features
Major characteristics such as magneticfield range, sensitivity, offset and temperature coefficients are programmable in nonvolatile memory. Several output signal clamping levels can be programmed to indicate fault conditions (under/overvoltage, under/overflow or thermal supervision). Programming is done by modulating the supply voltage with a serial telegram on the sensor’s output pin, so no additional programming pin is required. This easy programmability enables a twopoint calibration by adjusting the output directly to the input signal (mechanical angle, distance or current), allowing individual adjustment of each sensor during the customer’s manufacturing process; with this calibration the tolerances of sensor, magnet and mechanical positioning can be compensated in the final assembly. HAL 1881, HAL 1882 and HAL 1883 are preprogrammed devices with analog output.
Qualification & packaging
The HAL 18xy family is designed for industrial and automotive applications, is AECQ100 qualified and operates over a junction temperature range from −40 °C to +170 °C. The sensors are available in the very small leaded package TO92UA.
