Linux System Engineer (m/f/d)
Your assignment:
- You are primarily responsible for our Linux infrastructure in a demanding industrial environment.
- You ensure operations, compliance, and security.
- You work on troubleshooting, adjustments, and updates of Linux systems, and you also use automation solutions for this purpose.
- You continuously carry out modernization projects (e.g., RHEL8 to 10).
- You administer our Linux VDI environment based on enterprise solutions.
- You shape the immediate future of our Linux-based infrastructure, as well as related IT infrastructure. You also evaluate the dynamic use of cloud resources for this purpose.
- You communicate directly with contacts and key users from various departments and coordinate your own tasks and projects.
Your Profile:
- You have several years of professional experience in a comparable position, are familiar with corporate structures and processes, and ideally hold a degree in informatics.
- You are proficient and experienced in working with Linux systems, especially RHEL-based distributions such as Red Hat, Rocky, or CentOS, and have demonstrated your skills through certifications such as RHCE or LPIC.
- You have solid practical experience with services and technologies such as Samba, NFS, Kerberos, LDAP, and Active Directory. You dislike unnecessary repetitive tasks and know when it is the right time to implement automation (Puppet/OpenVOX, Ansible, Terraform…).
- You make decisions with a focus on sustainability and scalability, and your concepts and ideas technologically encompass both on-premises systems and the use of cloud resources.
- You possess a high sensitivity for high availability, downtime, dependencies, and risk assessments, and you act reliably even under time pressure.
- You have broad IT expertise beyond the Linux field, particularly in areas such as hypervisors, storage, backup, and networking.
- You work independently and in a structured manner, using your scope for action in a goal-oriented way; at the same time, you impress in a team and in collaboration with internal and external partners through clear, constructive communication.
